ย Add a funky little bunch of bananas to your aquascape! I think they'd look really cool on a piece of slate or hanging off some driftwood.

An odd little curiosity, Banana Lilies (Nymphoides aquatica) are very similar to Taiwan lily plants-- and are just as low maintenance!

Banana plants should not be buried, just allow them to rest lightly on your substrate. They'll soon anchor themselves in, and sprout long lily leaves that reach up to the surface. Great betta plant!

Growing requirements:

  • 65-80 Degrees Fahrenheit
  • Ph 6-8
  • Lower to medium light intensity.
  • Grows quickly
  • Co2 not necessary
  • Trim leaves regularly so they don't block out too much light!

Cassandra's Notes:

So these lilies are the type that are not especially long-lived. No worries though!

Remember those leaves that you pruned so that they wouldn't block out all the light to your other plants? Those can be propagated to grow new banana plants! I just let mine float in another tank, and watch the leaves sprout roots at the cut stem point.

As I like to keep real ecosystems in my aquariums, thereโ€™s always a chance of harmless hitchhikers like snails or dwarf shrimp tagging along with your plants!

I personally keep several beneficial snail species in my tanks, including Colorful Ramshorns, Bronze Bladder and Pond Snails, Mini Rams, and Malaysian Trumpet Snails. These snails stay relatively small, help clean the aquarium, and do not eat healthy plants or cause harm. However, if youโ€™d rather avoid any hitchhikers, I highly recommend checking out our blog on how to safely disinfect aquarium plants before adding them to your tank:
How to Bleach Dip Aquarium Plants Safely

All plants are freshly snipped or harvested and packed right before shipment. I take great care in preparing every order and use methods that have consistently produced the best results over many years in the hobby. A lot of love goes into every package, so please donโ€™t leave your plants sitting in a hot mailbox for too long ๐Ÿ™

Thank you for looking, aqua friends! ๐Ÿ’š
