Released in 2007, Citra® HBC 394 features high alpha acid and total oil content with a low percentage of co-humulone. Since its release Citra® has been a staple hop in most craft breweries and craft home brewers arsenal for its reliability and ability to boost flavour and aroma. Aromatic hop with hints of grapefruit, melon, lime, passionfruit. Typically used in American Pale Ales and Indian Pale Ales. Excellent aroma and fruity flavours when used as a dry hop.
Cryo Hops® are concentrated lupulin pellets made with cryogenic processing for maximum flavor and aroma. They deliver bold hop character with fewer grassy notes, making them a cleaner, more efficient alternative to standard hops.
Whole hop cones are carefully separated into two parts: concentrated lupulin (the good stuff packed with resins and aromatic oils) and the bract (leafy material). By keeping everything cold in a nitrogen-rich environment from start to finish, the quality and freshness are preserved.
Cryo Hops® pellets are all about delivering big hop character. They pack intense flavor and aroma while cutting down on the grassy, astringent notes you sometimes get with standard hops. Brewers love them because they make it easy to load up on alpha acids and oils without overloading the kettle or fermenter with vegetative matter. Use Cryo Hops® anywhere you’d normally add whole-leaf or pellet hops but expect a cleaner, more concentrated punch of hop goodness.
When using cryo hops you can use approximately 50% of your usual hop dosage to impart the same flavour intensity. We would recommend using cryo hops late in the kettle or as a dry hop instead of as a bittering addition.
